On Wednesday after taking home a silver medal in 2004 and 2008, American sprinter Allyson Felix finally earned gold. “Finally it’s awesome,” Allyson told newshourbd.blogspot.com Billy Bush of her long-awaited win, in London in an interview at the Olympic Games. “It was a missing thing. I had disappointment in Athens and Beijing, but it was all happy last night.” The 26-year-old athlete prepared for this race with her usual routine, which includes prayer and a pep talk with her mom. “We did our normal routine … we had prayer, I called [my mom] earlier in the day and then at the track I listened to my music, got into the zone and complete focus,” she told Billy. Allyson – who said she can’t wait to dig into some hot wings now that she’s completed her race – was thrilled to see her supportive mom in the stands after she won. “She’s normally a nervous wreck… but she was calm [this time around],” she said. “When I did my victory lap I saw her and I almost climbed up into the stands with her – I was just so happy!”
